La Delivrance by Emile Guillaume
There has only ever been one word to describe La Délivrance - or The Naked Lady as we used to call her when I was a child - and that is magnificent. She was my first introduction to the spirit of a heroine even before I had the intellect to understand what that meant. At around five years old I was shocked at her brazenness and felt she was doing something both naughty and thrilling. But it was at nine or ten when I passed her by on the way to and from school that I understood it was a triumph and celebration of being herself that she was expressing. I was a shy child, so I was never going to emulate her stance even though she captured my imagination. The Naked Lady lives in my heart though. She is an inspiration and a tribute to all those women who do.
